Privacy Policy
Effective 8 October 2026. Applies to the Morningbrief apps for iOS and Android and to morningbrief.pro.
Morningbrief (“we”, “us”) provides a daily news brief. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can access or delete it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we are
The service is operated by Morningbrief. Privacy requests: privacy@morningbrief.pro. Other questions: support@morningbrief.pro.
Information we collect
- Account. Email address, a password hash if you create a password, and, if you sign in with Google, your name, email, profile image URL, and Google account identifier.
- Preferences. The brief time, time zone, a city or region you type in, topic notes, and which source packs you turn on. We do not collect GPS or precise location.
- Device. A device identifier, whether the device is iOS or Android, a push-notification token, and whether notifications are on.
- Your briefs. The editions we generate for you, including text and audio, follow-up questions you type or speak, and a simple up or down rating if you send one.
- Technical logs. IP address, time, and basic request data, kept so we can secure the service and fix failures.
The public website does not use tracking cookies and does not require an account to read.
How we use it
- To create and deliver your brief, including audio.
- To sign you in and keep your account.
- To send a notification when a brief is ready, if you allow it.
- To answer support and privacy requests.
- To keep the service reliable and to prevent abuse.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on performance of our contract with you for the account and the brief, on legitimate interests for security and basic operations, and on your consent where the platform asks for it, including notifications. You can withdraw consent for notifications in the system settings of your phone.
Who we share it with
We share information only with processors that help us run Morningbrief:
- Google — sign-in, if you choose it, and cloud storage of briefs and audio.
- OpenAI — drafting and checking brief text. A prompt may include your topic notes and the source material for that edition.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications to Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging. We send the device token and the notification text, not your brief audio.
- Apple and Google — as the distributors of the apps, under their own privacy policies, when you download Morningbrief from the App Store or Google Play.
Some of these providers process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires a transfer tool, we use it. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the service and its users.
How long we keep it
We keep account, preference, device, and brief data for as long as your account exists. After you ask us to delete the account, we delete that data within 30 days. Backup copies may remain for up to 90 days, then they are overwritten. Security logs are kept for up to 90 days. We keep a record of the deletion request itself only as long as we need it to show that we carried it out.
Your choices and rights
You can update preferences in the app. You can turn notifications off in the app or in your phone settings. You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, a correction, or deletion.
To delete your account and the personal information tied to it, use Delete your account. You do not need the app installed to do this. That page is the web address we give to Apple and Google for account deletion.
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, ask us to restrict processing, and ask for portability of information you provided. You may lodge a complaint with your local authority. In the Czech Republic that is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů).
Children
Morningbrief is not for children. You must be at least 16 to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, write to privacy@morningbrief.pro and we will delete it.
Security
Passwords are stored as salted hashes. Sessions expire. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. If a change is material, we will also tell you in the app or by email when we have your address.
